Below are situations that could cause our vinyl decals from sticking to your surface.
1. Not properly preparing the surface making sure it is free of dust, lint and residue.
2. Washing the wall before adhering it to the wall. The wall must be completely dry before beginning. If the wall has been washed, you must wait at least 48 hours before trying to adhere the decal.
3. For some reason, certain paints will reject the decal making it difficult to adhere.
4. Adhering the decal after newly painting the wall. It is crucial to let the paint cure, even if it looks dry, it isn't ready for wall decals unless it has been at least 3 weeks.
5. During application vinyl decals that have been touched by fingers during application will release the oils from fingers making it difficult for the vinyl to stick to the wall.
6. Too much wall texture. Our vinyl is designed to mold over the "peaks and valleys" of the wall texture. However if the wall has more "peaks" than "valleys" it doesn't allow the vinyl to grasp on to the wall and adhere properly.
7. Waiting too long to put up your vinyl decal. One of the reasons Alphabet Garden Designs wall decals are not available on store shelves is the adhesive weakens when they sit after cutting. Our decals our custom cut for you and should be adhered shortly within ordering for best results. Having it sit around will lessen the adhesive causing it to not stick well.
So now what? Don't worry.... below is some suggestions to help you adhere you decal.
1. Ensure all edges are SECURELY pressed onto surfaces. They will help the rest of the vinyl stay.
2. Use adhesive sprays for mounting photographs and glue sticks to help you with stubborn parts. These are products that will not harm your wall.
3. If bubbles are a problem, CAREFULLY puncture with a small sharp object (pin) and allow air to escape. Carefully rub the spot to allow the air to push out, do not pull or stretch the vinyl with your finger. The vinyl will then self heal and won't show the pin hole.
